Ayurveda was founded thousands of years before modern medicine existed. It was relating more to the connection between your mind and your body instead of focusing on treating illness. Ayurveda is meant to help you realize your full human potential. It’s one of those, follow the mind and your body will follow types of wisdom.

What Is Ayurveda?

This practice believes in two main things. First that your mind and body are harmoniously connected and second, that nothing has more power to heal or transform your body as your mind does. Freedom from illness all depends on our awareness of what’s happening in our bodies and balancing out those issues.

Ayurvedic and Hair Growth

An example of Ayurveda is meditation. It’s said that when you meditate and relax your mind, then you enter a state of awareness and inner peace. Once this has been achieved, it will have cleared your head and revitalized your body. This is because the mind and the body are connected, so what’s done to one is done to the other.

It is believed by Ayurveda that when your hair falls out it’s associated with the state and stability of your mind-body structure. Hair is considered as a result of bone formation, and the tissues responsible for your bone formation are also responsible for your hair growth.

Hair loss is deemed to be a problem of something called pitta dosha.

Pitta dosha is what controls your digestion, metabolism, and energy production in the body and is believed to be the primary cause of hair loss. Ayurvedic hair loss treatments are known for their effectiveness on correcting pitta dosha so your hair can get back on track.

There are a few different aspects of ayurvedic hair treatments such as diet, meditation, yoga and medicated herbal oil massages.

Ayurveda Diet

Since hair loss is considered to be a problem caused by excess pitta dosha, you need to identify which bad eating habits are contributing to the increase of pitta in your body.

Pitta is increased by things like the excessive intake of alcohol, tea, coffee, meats, and excessive smoking. It’s also been known to be triggered by eating too much fried, greasy, oily, sour, spicy and acidic foods.

If your diet contains many of these, or if you have any bad habits then you may have just found the cause of your hair loss. Try replacing these things with healthier options such as green leafy vegetables, yogurt, sesame seeds, freshly squeezed juices. Anything rich in vitamin C, vitamin B-complex, zinc, sulfur, and necessary fatty acids.

Meditation And Yoga

When it comes to meditating and yoga, there are many things which will greatly benefit your health and hair loss. With yoga, many inverted poses are said to promote hair growth. One pose in particular called Sarvangasana, which is a pretty simple shoulder stand, or any other pose which reverse gravity are recommended for those with hair loss.

This is because they stimulate blood flow to the head. However, it’s advised to practice these with an instructor before attempting them at home on your own.

When it comes to meditation, deep breathing is the key. Once you’ve mastered your deep breathing techniques you should be able to control your stress, anxiety and by the end, keep your mind balanced.

Ayurvedic Herbs For Hair Loss

There are certain herbs used in Ayurveda.

When looking for a rejuvenator, there is a herb called Bhringaraja which is known for its amazing ability to promote hair growth and effectiveness of reversing baldness and premature graying.

Sometimes mixing herbs together can also show great results. Amla is an Indian gooseberry and is loaded with Vitamin C and antioxidants. When crushed into a powder it can be mixed with things like henna, Brahmi powder, and curd to provide great results for hair loss. Brahmi is a hair pack which can easily be found in most Indian grocery stores.

Medicated Herbal Oil And Massages

Oils can be used it many different ways, and even be made many ways. Oils that have proven to be useful when dealing with hair loss, and can help regrow the hair are coconut oil, amla oil, mustard oil or arnica oil. You can also try using honey to stimulate some growth in the hair follicles. For fast hair growth, you can try apple cider vinegar.
